LOOs in water, really lovely. Strong technique. Almost Franz Hals. I would buy several of those paintings. Just joy.
b) Andrew Kuo @ Marlborough. Abstract formalism with legends. Legends like legends on a map: each color associated with a random observation of life. They were funny, but distracting.
c) Kenny Scharf is still painting? I thought he disappeared into the 90's. His new work is just awful. I mean SUCK.
d) Group show of abstract formalist giants. Sol Le Witt, Peter Halley et al. Some fucking great work. Two color minimalism. So good you want to cry.
e) So much work on panel. Jesus, you see all the painters, because they look at the sides of the paintings. Fuck, little things: Like I have the top supports OVER the side supports (that's bad) and I used pine. Fucking PINE. It's all knotty. I'll have to gesso over it. BUT: these are artists sizing their work, just like me. God, I love that. But, they are using birch or something clean so the sides don't need to be gessoed. Incidentally Golden wrote me back: they said to use wet sanding. I'm ready to go!
f) AL just asked me to come over. Her body is like a dripping ripe peach.
e) LOOK: 271 days left in the year.
g) I mixed up e and f.
h) I'm drunk!
